David Bowie Is On Tour
Geweldig over 2,5 jaar in Groninger Museum!
Touring Exhibition: David Bowie is
David Bowie is, is the first international retrospective of the extraordinary career of David Bowie – one of the most pioneering and influential performers of modern times. Over 300 objects including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, photography, set designs, album artwork and rare performance material from the past five decades are brought together from the David Bowie Archive for the very first time. The exhibition demonstrates how Bowie’s work has both influenced and been influenced by wider movements in art, design, theatre and contemporary culture and focusses on his creative processes, shifting style and collaborative work with diverse designers in the fields of fashion, sound, graphics, theatre and film.
The exhibition will tour internationally. Confirmed venues are:
- Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto, Canada from 25 September to 27 November 2013
- Museum of Image and Sound, Sao Paulo, Brazil from 28 January to 21 April 2014
- Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, USA from September 2014 to January 2015
- Philharmonie de Paris/ Cité de la Musique, Paris, France from 2 March to 31 May 2015
- Groninger Museum, Groningen, The Netherlands from 15 December 2015 to 15 March 2016

Ooooo mooi!
Wat een mooi afscheidsfeest! Onvergetelijk. Dank dank dank.
En daar was dan de laatste dag Vuursteen. Een feest voor Carel. Het lokaal was prachtig versierd met tinten blauw, want daar houdt Carel van. Alle gasten en kinderen hadden ook iets blauws aan. Eerst hebben we met zijn allen lekkere broodjes gegeten. Toen een officieel moment. Willem Pronk gaf Carel zijn diploma!

London Bye Ta Ta
We zaten in een hotel, vlakbij Hyde Park, we hebben fantastisch weer gehad, alleen maar zon! Dat was de vorige keren wel anders, in mijn beleving regende het altijd in Londen.
Eerst naar DavidBowieIs geweest in Victoria and Albert Museum. Wat een met veel liefde gemaakte tentoonstelling. David wordt echt geëerd. Fantastisch, alle pakken staan er tentoongesteld, heel veel teksten en tekeningen mag je bekijken en zelfs maquettes van podia zijn te bewonderen. Ook is er veel beeldmateriaal te zien. Je loopt als het ware door zijn carrière.
Ik vond het Berlijn-gedeelte er ook uitspringen, alles mooi grafisch in zw/w en met films op de achtergrond. Maar waar ik tranen van in mijn ogen kreeg was de laatste ruimte waar er hele grote schermen staan waar o.a. Rock and Roll Suicide te zien is, je weet wel in Hammersmith Odeon. Achter de schermen staan ook pakken tentoongesteld en die lichten tijdens de projectie op. De schermen zijn immens groot en het is werkelijk fantastisch mee te maken om Ziggy zo te zien en horen. Het voelde ook een beetje als thuiskomen, ik ken al Davids muziek en ik ben er zo mee verweven. Dit bezoek aan V&A was het alleen al waard naar Londen te gaan.

Maar... we zijn daarna naar The O2 Arena gegaan, fijn reizen met The Underground, ideaal! Wow, wat een mooi plein bij het Olympisch Stadion en het bruiste er van het leven. Naar de British Music Experience geweest in een deel van het stadion, ook weer veel pakken gezien en zelfs gedanst in onze eigen video en gitaren geprobeerd. Een mooie interactieve tentoonstelling. Daarna heerlijk gegeten bij een Mexicaan op het terrein bij The O2 waar vooral jongelui er helemaal dressed up bijliepen om naar een concert van Beyoncé te gaan! We keken onze ogen uit, the London Look is a pretty one.
Daarna toen het schemerde ff naar The London Bridge geweest en het prachtige uitzicht bewonderd en foto's gemaakt. De volgende dag even in Hyde Park rondgelopen en naar Oxford Street geweest, wow wat een winkelstraat! Een mooie outfit gescoord in Top Shop en naar de winkel Liberty geweest, een prachtig oud pand! Er hingen twee taxi's in de lucht en er was kleding van allerlei beroemde designers. We moeten nog es een keer terug. Bij Starbucks koffie gehaald, lekker.. Toen naar The Big Ben en ineens zaten we in een stroom toeristen, natuurlijk foto's gemaakt maar daarna in de tuin bij St James hospital onze lunch in de zon (!) opgegeten. Heerlijk. Toen nog naar Madame Tussauds geweest waar we met verschillende sterren op de foto zijn geweest, net echt... Daarna bagage opgehaald en hup terug de trein in naar het vliegveld. Het waren twee fantastische dagen. London Bye Ta Ta Strange Young Town...

dance like me at 12.08 and at 12.25 he waves and smiles at me and then
he makes glasses with his hands and sings So Far Away... (isn't that funny?). Then they quickly turned the
spotlight towards me Ha Ha Ha ! Forever In My Memory.
The whole concert was the best ever. Vredenburg is small, it was an intimate experience. David shared his new (Earthling)music with us, his audience, almost like a try-out. It was very special. After the break he sang lots of his hits including a beautiful version of 'Quicksand' which was one of the highlights. In this video you can actually see that he is enjoying himself and there is a lot of interaction with the audience :-)

Iedereen koning(in)!!
Een kroon op ons werk…
Onze koningskinderen vanmorgen op de voorpagina van de krant! Wat zijn we er trots op. De fotoshoot van afgelopen dinsdag heeft veel indruk gemaakt zowel op de kinderen en hun begeleiders als op ons. Carel wilde in zijn witte shirt slapen en ook de volgende dag weer aan naar school, zijn manier om te zeggen: “Ik vond het geweldig!” Hij was supertrots dat dit hele gebeuren bij zijn papa en mama plaatsvond. En wat een hartverwarmende reacties hebben we van iedereen gehad! Volgens mij loop ik naast mijn schoenen van trots…. En er zijn nog zo veel meer foto’s gemaakt waar we nog iets mee gaan doen

Wat zou ik graag naar Londen gaan voor deze expositie van David. Allerlei foto's, pakken, beeldmateriaal, zelfs handgeschreven storyboards van videoclips zijn tentoongesteld in het Victoria and Albert Museum. Er zijn in de voorverkoop al 50.000 kaarten verkocht!! Op 23 maart is de tentoonstelling geopend. Gisteren lag de server plat dus ik kon geen kaarten bestellen. Balen...

Intussen thuis bij Alex en Máxima...
Alexander, dikke whisky in de hand voor de haard, ijsberend, Máxima op de bank...
"Godverdomme ik wil die baan niet, die functie is helemaal uitgekleed!" Hij neemt een slok en vloekt. Hij kijkt Máxima aan en wijst naar haar. "Ik doe het niet!"
Zegt Máxima: "Lieverd, doe dit nou, het is in het landsbelang!"
Alex neemt nog een slok, flikkert zijn glas in de open haard en zegt: "Nou oké, ik doe het, omdat jij dat wil!"
